We chose the hotel for its location, near the main station and close to the traditional quarter 'Le Panier'. It is basically a hostel, and we were not expecting very much comfort. We had a two-bed room with bath, and it was indeed furnished in a spartan way, but nothing was lacking. The WiFi worked well. Breakfast was a buffet served in the lobby, with tables in the inner courtyard, not spectacular but quite satisfactory. The staff were friendly and uniformly helpful. The hotel was quiet except for an occasional loud door closing (a sign in the lobby asked guests to be considerate and avoid that, but some forgot and let the door slam shut). The decor was simple but fresh and pleasing (patterns in white and blue, in the style of Matisse's 'cutouts'). The building has a classic exterior and is a protected monument; it ollos like an office building or a former government office, but was in fact originally a cigar factory. All in all a very pleasant stay, with no problems of any kind.

The location was very good. I arrived late around 9pm, but since it's on the right at the edge of the main road I felt confident to leave and explore the old Vioux-port. it's around 10mins walk from there. Breakfast was great. The reception is good. It's more to the casual side but that's totally fine. And yes, reception comes after you enter the bar side door lol. There's also an art gallery or something, which is cool. I didn't have time to check. Also there is a study room kind of thing.

Good location, clean and modern, good size room (private single). Felt comfortable as a solo 36yo female. Location can feel a bit sketchy on arrival depending on direction you come from, but not to worry, it's actually nice and close to a main road with shops and supermarket, and easy walk to Le Panier and other locations!

Overall a really nice spot, it felt roomy and made for an easy launching point to explore the old port area of Marceille. The rooms and bathrooms were large, and it was relatively easy to find privacy. The breakfast deal (4 euro for coffee and two pastries) was also the perfect portion to start my day.

+ conveniently located + safe neighbourhood + nice atmosphere + friendly staff + I stayed 2 nights in a girls' dorm (4 beds) and had really nice and considerate roommates. Our room even had a private balcony (see my 3rd picture). + the room and the bed were comfortable, but:
